Chamberlain/Liftmaster Garage Door OpenersThe example photos below show how to connect the GarageMate receiver to your Chamberlain/Liftmaster garage door opener. For your reference we have also included links to some Chamberlain/Liftmaster user manuals. Note if you can’t immediately find your wiring terminals, sometimes they are behind the translucent lightbulb cover.Even if your exact model isn’t referenced on this page, GarageMate will work as a remote control for most residential Chamberlain/Liftmaster garage door openers. You simply connect the GarageMate wires in parallel to your wall switch.

GarageMate will work fine even if you reverse the wires. We color code the wires simply for convention but they are electrically equivalent.We have many customers that own a LiftMaster/Chamberlain garage door opener as the vast majority are compatible with GarageMate.

But some models made after 2011 are not. Newer Liftmaster/Chamberlain models have the manufacturing date clearly printed on the garage door opener. If it is manufactured in 2011 or later (or if you are uncertain of the manufacture date), you can determine compatibility by the color of the 'learn' button near the wiring terminals. If it is yellow it is NOT compatible. But if it is any other color like red, blue, purple, etc, it is compatible.
